Final Wax Encaustic

The final wax encaustic i created was a landscape of a garden in a field. I used lace for the tree's and the flowers to bring out the shape and color of the imbedded texture. The most difficult part of making a wax encaustic was blending the wax colors together to make it look like the colors were organic. The colors in the sky almost look as though it is the top of an ocean and the green tree's are seaweed under the ocean surface. This piece could be interpreted in different ways, but my intention was to create a landscape scene with a garden. Using the wax to make artwork was actually very interesting to me to see how the colors blend and how objects, pieces of magazines, letters, stamps, and other techniques could be used in this type of artwork.

Wax Encaustic

This piece was a practice wax encaustic to see how the wax moves and how fast the wax dries. This practice piece was very helpful when creating a final wax encaustic. Using tools or any other objects that i found could be pressed into the wax to create value and texture. Also, mixing the colors together and spreading the wax to make a mini landscape was very helpful to bring out the structure of the piece. Doing this piece was very helpful and inspiring because it was a lot easier to better understand how the wax works and what looked good when using the colors.

Persona 1 and Persona 2 edited

The first persona I created by using magazine images and colored pencils was about a woman who is a famous actor that hates the attention the fame gives her. I created this persona by cutting things that I thought would relate to my point and somehow fit them all in to make a story. Melinda is hiding in her house, but people still find her and like the guy standing outside, they all want her attention and recognition. The man’s name is Jonah, who wants to pursue a life with her and marry her for fame. Melinda is tired of everyone pretending to be friends with her for the things that she is famous for and just wants to be left alone. The main point behind this story is that rather than love, money, and fame, give people truth.

Glazed Sculpture

The goal of this project was to include different things that represent you. I chose to sculpt a manican because I want to go to college for fashion and drawing. I also included other little symbols that represent other things in my life that are important to me. I added a light bulb to my sculpture to represent that I am intelligent. I also added an upside down question mark because sometimes I am put into situations where I do not know what the right decision is, but in the end it always turns out for the better. The final symbol I put on my sculpture was a transition between summer and fall because I love the summer and the fall. The summer is so peaceful and hot unlike winter which in my opinion is depressing and cold. I chose to glaze it green with yellow because the malachite glaze was very appropriate for my piece I thought. The yellow would represent the leaves and the summer. Overall, my sculpture was a success and it represents who I am and what I resemble in life.
